Douglas Tomb

A lot of people don’t like going near the tomb of Stephen Douglas, though most mundies don’t understand why. The white marble column at 636 East 35th Street exudes a distinct “creepy” feeling to darned-near anyone that comes near it. Historians will tell anybody that asks that Douglas Tomb was built near the site of a Civil War Era prisoner camp, and that the crawling sensation under your skin is probably the malice of hundreds of ghostly prisoners. Creepy, indeed.
